Innovation Manager, R&D
White Marsh Location
The Innovation Manager role involves leading the execution of TIC Gums' product and technology innovation program and supervising an expanding team of scientists and engineers. The Innovation Team is accountable for driving new product innovation from inception to commercialization and works closely with the Sales/Marketing, Applications, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and QA/QC teams. The team is also accountable for ongoing trouble-shooting of product and process issues that arise post-launch.
The ideal candidate will have experience in external technology scanning, product ideation, bench scale proof-of-principle, process development, process scale-up and management of QA/QC during the initial stages of product manufacture. Critical to success in this role are the following competencies: 1) the ability to design effective experiments in both a lab and manufacturing setting; 2) the ability to clearly articulate these plans and the subsequent results to a broad audience; 3) an intense level of ownership in driving great ideas into real commercial results, 4) great interpersonal skills that facilitate strong cross-functional teams, 5) strong project management skills that have been demonstrated through previous accomplishments
Requirements for this position include an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering Science, or Materials Science. Ideal experience would be supervision of professional staff, leadership of multiple food ingredient innovation projects (ingredient design, scale-up & launch), manufacturing support and trouble-shooting (actual production experience is a plus). Ideal candidate will have training in organic & inorganic chemistry, and have been granted at least one patent and is familiar with the entire IPR generation process.
Senior Process Engineer, R&D
This role is a critical part of the Innovation Team within the R&D Department, and is accountable for driving new product innovation from inception through commercialization. In this role you will work closely with the Applications, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and QA/QC teams. The team is also accountable for ongoing trouble-shooting of product and process issues that arise post-launch. The Innovation Process Engineer develops the new processes necessary for successful commercialization of new ingredients; working with manufacturing engineers to implement these processes on full-scale and leading any trouble-shooting activities in the post-launch phase.
The ideal candidate will have experience in external technology scanning, process design, pilot scale experimentation, process scale-up, process capability definition and management of QA/QC issues during the initial stages of product manufacture. Requirements for this position include an M.S degree or higher (will consider B.Sc. with exceptional experience) in Chemical Engineering, and a proven track-record of successful projects involving process design and scale-up of new food ingredients, significant experience in a manufacturing/trouble-shooting environment (actual production management experience is a plus).
Senior Mechanical Engineer
Belcamp Location
This position is responsible for Production Engineering Functions and assists in continual improvement and problem solving through original thinking, brainstorming, problem definition, and implementation. It focuses on increasing rates, maximizing yields, and reducing downtime.
Specific duties include designing and drawing simple mechanical parts in Auto CAD, creating and updating engineering documents, P&ID, electrical drawings, tag sheets in Visio, Excel, Word, Access, & other applications as required. Also responsible for completing and updating engineering changes regarding tasks and inventory on new equipment and improvements in reference to preventative maintenance.
Other duties include assisting in Electrical Technician duties in regards to wiring, diagnosing controls, and replacement of parts. Also, performing equipment start-ups, and supporting the maintenance function through training, working with improved parts and procedures to include preventative maintenance tasks and training, using the Maintenance Software (MP2).
Requirements for this position include: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 8-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Must possess the ability to read and analyze blueprints and schematics, write reports & business correspondence and procedure manuals. Must possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
